Soul of My Home

by Chesney Peyton

It sits deep in the heartland
amidst our ever-expanding cultures
with it’s railways, interstates, developments..
screeching; Hawking over, as vultures
would their prey Less like a hand
Clawing through our ecosystem
Nature’s enemy in the guise of progression
Freedom of opportunity masked over ecumenism
It remains victorious
above a primitive state of existence
with it’s own immortal roots, prolific..
benevolent; A haunting quiescence
Less like death Notorious
Thriving among urban dwelling
Propagation’s pitfall mercifully unveiled
Divine absolution’s reign over constitutional quelling.
